Principal's Corner

Welcome

Welcome to Amelia L. Johnson High School, Thomaston, Alabama.  Our motto is:   "Today's Foundation Supports Tomorrow's World."

We believe that education is a cooperative effort involving parents, students, teachers, and administrators.  We, the administration and faculty, pledge our best efforts in the development of children academically, athletically, and socially.

The primary responsibility of the faculty and staff of Amelia L. Johnson Schools is to strive to meet the academic needs of its students.  Recognizing that students vary in their abilities, the faculty provides a varied program as well as an atmosphere that will enhance learning.  We know the desirable qualities of leadership, responsibility, dependability, and self-worth are essential in making well-rounded citizens of our students.  Accordingly, Amelia L. Johnson High School offers to its students many extracurricular activities which encourage the growth of these qualities.  Through collective efforts of the child's parents and the school faculty, opportunities are furnished the student so that a well-rounded individual will be the outgrowth of a student's years at Amelia L. Johnson High School.

We regard our students as young adults and on that basis, expect mature attitudes and behaviors.  We expect our students to be prepared for class activities by reporting promptly to class, fully rested and alert.  To insure their own educational development, we expect students to be prepared each day with necessary materials and completed assignments.  Students can contribute to their own enjoyment of school by developing a cooperative, positive attitude and by displaying a courteous respectful manner to all.

We are an actively involved  (ARI) Alabama Reading Initiative and (AMSTI) Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative school.

We welcome parental contact and are available for conferences.  Please feel free to call for a conference during the teacher's planning time.  We may be reached at 334-627-3364.

If you wish to speak to the principal, please call or come by the office.
