On Wednesday, February 17, the Alliance for Excellent Education will host its fifth annual Digital Learning Day (DLDay). This year, the emphasis is digital equity in schools and communities across America, and it will focus entirely on people and systems leading this charge.

The Alliance created DLDay to celebrate teachers who were tapping the potential of technology to enhance student engagement and learning. Five years later, the event has become a national phenomenon that engages hundreds of thousands of educators; spawns more than 1,000 classroom, school-, district- and statewide activities; and boasts an official hashtag (#DLDay) trending on Twitter around the country.

This year, the event emcee is well-known educator, author, and leader for bringing diversity into education technology, Rafranz Davis, executive director of professional and digital learning for Lufkin Independent School District in Texas. Through live digital events throughout the day, she will talk with educators, students, and policymakers from small, rural towns to large, urban cities about what they are doing to close the digital divide in their communities.
